The Gangtey Nature Trail descends from Gangtey Monastery along a ridge and loops through the Phobjikha Valley floor, passing farmland, wetland, and the Black-Necked Crane Information Centre. Between late October and February, the endangered cranes winter in the valley and are often visible from the trail. The walk is flat to gently undulating, making it one of Bhutan's most accessible trails and a good counterpoint to steeper routes elsewhere in the country.
