Bumthang's four valleys — Chokhor, Tang, Ura, and Chumey — offer a mix of gentle cultural walks and moderate multi-day treks. The Bumthang Owl Trek loops through yak pastures and remote temples in three days, while shorter walks connect the sacred sites of the Chokhor Valley floor. The region's high plateau setting (2,600m+), buckwheat fields, and ancient monastic heritage give these trails a character distinct from western Bhutan's steeper valley hikes.
