About this place
Paro Valley is the classic introduction to Bhutan: a broad river valley of blue pines, whitewashed farmhouses, dzongs, and monasteries tucked into the folds above town. Rinpung Dzong guards the valley floor, the National Museum occupies the old watchtower above it, and the trail to Taktsang climbs through forest on the far side. The valley's compact scale means most landmarks are reachable within a day, yet it rewards two or three days of slower exploration — especially for the early-morning light on the rice terraces and the quieter monastery circuits away from the main road.
